LITERACY

Literacy continues to have  a very high profile within the school. It is enriched through a variety of activities including reading, writing, speaking and listening. As a subject it permeates the whole of the curriculum.

The continuity and development of pupil achievements is reached through the carefully structured planning and moderated assessments.

Programmes of study relate to Q.C.A. documentation. Year groups have worked hard and delivered a wide range of literacy experiences which have been reflected in the displays of different genre around the school.

The introduction of an interactive whiteboard in all the classrooms has had a positive impact on pupils learning. It has created more opportunities for literacy to be studied in different ways.

Standards in both reading and writing are good, children are encouraged to develop a love of the subject and remain motivated.

This year two members of staff have taken part in the "Can Write, Won't Write," initiative which has involved the application of media and technology to enhance the teaching and learning of literacy in line with the government,s drive for Excellence and Enjoyment in schools.
