Withernsea Junior School

About Us: Healthy School Award

The school has achieved The Healthy School Award and has many strategies in place to assist with this.
There are nine themes with related targets which the school has achieved.
A Healthy Road Show was held in the hall to show parents our achievements to date. Display

Some useful suggestions were placed in our Suggestions Box, but if anyone has any other good ideas please let the school know so that we can incorporate them into our planning.

The Healthy School Award is all about the local community working together for a common aim.  The Buddies continue to work hard in school helping to befriend other children and provide a listening ear to children experiencing problems. Children are also able to talk to any member of staff at school if they have worries but the Buddy System can provide additional reassurance.

A review of the Tuck Shop has taken place. In a recent survey it was discovered that some children regularly miss breakfast but may instead buy things at the tuck Shop. For this reason the Tuck Shop  sells more healthy alternatives eg. toast, seasonal fruit, yoghurt drinks, fruit juice, vegetable sticks and healthy flapjacks, in order to meet the needs of these children.
