"Together we Enjoy, Learn, Achieve, Care."

The school is led by our new head teacher Mrs A.Harper M.A

"Welcome to Withernsea Junior School.

I am Mrs Harper the Headteacher, I started work here at Easter 2007.

Prior to this I was Headteacher for five years at a smaller primary school further up the East Yorkshire coast.

We are a large school with 2 to 3 classes in each year group. We aim to offer a high quality learning environment with a caring ethos.

We encourage the pupils to have opinions, to take responsibility for themselves and their own learning. We encourage them to help with all aspects of school and take a pride in their learning and achievements.

We have a very talented teaching and support staff team who offer children many different ways in which to excel and achievement.

We can also cater for pupils with special educational needs and have a diversity of experience with many different special educational needs.

We aim to work closely with parents and employ a home school liaison officer to ensure close links. We publish a monthly newsletter, which also includes a pupil page.

This can also be emailed to parents on request.

If you would like to look round the school please telephone to make an appointment. We look forward to meeting you. "

At present there are 11 classes in the school.

The school has a dedicated special needs teacher who is responsible for pupils with statements of Special Educational Needs and any pupils the staff may have concerns about.

There is a large group of support staff, including teachers assistants, administrative staff, caretaking staff and lunch time supervisors.

Withernsea Junior school works closely with Withernsea Infants School and Withernsea High School and Technology College.

The school has taken part in many initiatives in the fields of ICT, behaviour management, Gifted and Talented pupils to enhance teaching and learning, raise achievement, pupil self esteem and enrich the curriculum.

Since January 2005 the school has become part of an Excellence Cluster in collaboration with schools in Goole, Bridlington and several other primary schools in the catchment area.

Working alongside the governments initiative - Excellence and Enjoyment, the school is looking at a range of activities building  on good practice to continue to improve and enhance learning within the school and as part of this to continue to monitor and develop further the schools commitment to the International Dimension and developing its links within Europe and the wider world.
