Personnel of the Nurture Room
Behaviour Support - Cath Brown, H.L.T.A.

The aims of the Nurture Room are:
· To support vulnerable children and families with positive management of behaviour and pastoral care within the school setting
· To support children with their learning needs within small/individual group sessions
· Will aim to maintain consistency of positive role models to allow a holistic approach to the individual child's needs
· To foster a welcoming, caring environment, encouraging positive interaction ~ child to child, child to adult.
· Acknowledge rewards and achievements of the individual child.

Afternoon Activities
Time - 1.00-3.15
PEARLS - (Pupils, Emotional Literacy & Real Life Skills).
Loss, Separation, Bereavement, Self Esteem, Confidence Building, Anger Management, Friendship.
PALS - (Positive Active Lifestyle)
Healthy Eating
Sport
Additionally we are trained in:
Drawing and Talking - one to one therapeutic Intervention.
Children can use the Nurture room for various reasons, these are as follows:-
· Medical
· Social
· Emotional
· Behavioural
· Environmental
· Children who are finding it difficult to manage mainstream class ~ children will be provided with appropriate work from the class teacher
Referrals to the Nurture Room:
Lunch/Playtime ~Referrals' can be made verbally by speaking to Nurture room staff for - lunch/play time issues on the day if necessary
PEARLS ~ referred each term/half term via referral form issued to class teachers/head teacher /home to school liaison officer /HLTA's
Positive Futures ~ termly referral form for Year 5 children
Turnaround ~ via liaison with year 6 teachers/Home to school/Head teacher
E.P.B.S.T. - Educational, Psychology, Behaviour, Support Team
Referrals made through conversations with the Advisory Teacher and E.P.B.S.T team through necessary intervention and paper work.
The School is proactive at encouraging partnerships with other agencies, cluster schools and other related groups i.e. facilitate joint training events etc. They include:

Parents
Support and guidance for parents during pop in.
Parenting sessions with:

Areas to be covered - discipline, rules, rewards, choices and consequences, ages and stages of child development open forum. Parents can call in for informal chats.

PSP - Parent Support Plan
Cath Brown to write, monitor IBP/PSP/CAF and liaise with children, parents and outside agencies as necessary.
To support C.P. Officer/Teacher by completion of paper work, communication and liaising with outside agencies, parents and attending C.P. meetings.
Facilitate
The Nurture room will facilitate and support Positive Futures and the Turnaround Programme in relation to transition from the Infant School to the Junior School and from the Junior School to the High school.
