MUSIC

The teaching of Music follows the QCA programms of study.

Most children particularly enjoy the practical lessons.

The upper school choir performed at the switching on of the Christmas Lights.  They also sang in Proudfoots and at the Tamarix Lodge at Christmas.

The lower school choir made an excellent contribution to the lower school Christmas production.

The school has a very extensive range of musical instruments; these are kept in excellent condition.

There are four peripatetic teachers, who visit the school on a weekly basis. They teach brass, wind and string within school hours. These lessons are offered to children who display a good musical ability and a high level of commitment to hard work. There is a termly charge to parents, but this represents good value for money when compared to the private sector.

We are hoping to successfully obtain Lottery funding to increase our instrument base and loan, free of charge, instruments to all pupils who participate in the extra-curricular lessons.

This year Y4, working with thet East Riding Schools' Music service, have been involved with the Wider Opportunites initiative which has meant that ALL pupils in Y5 have been given the opportunity to learn to play a wind instrument including flute, clarinet, trumpet and trombone. it is hoped that this will continue in future years as the result has been fantastic.
